Roxanne Tamberen was born in Upland, California. She was educated at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where she majored in painting. Roxanne’s medium is the monotype, which is a very unique way of making a one of a kind painting. The scene is painted on plexiglass in oil or ink, and the artist rubs out the white areas so that those areas show through to the paper, once the ink or paint has been transferred from the plexiglass onto the paper with a roller press.
Each time the painting is “pulled”, it is a thrill and surprise to see the effect of this rubbing out process, and Roxanne feel so fortunate to have a printing press and the knowledge of this unique medium to share with her audience her love of color and shape, as well as this unique vision she loves to share of outdoor travel.
