August General Meeting with Christine White using Oils

Christine White is a painter and naturalist. She holds a Masters in Geography from University of South Carolina, and moved to Redlands, California to work for a mapping software company. In 2019, she left the tech industry to pursue art full time, with a personal mission to use her paintings to build kinder bonds with the people, creatures,
and places we encounter. Lately she has been creating art using items we normally discard: plastic; fabric; scraps; old wiring. The challenge is to incorporate these materials mindfully so the result is a beautiful piece that just happens to be made from trash. In addition to creating her art, Christine also juries art shows, models for life drawing classes, teaches painting workshops, and is on the art teaching staff at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge. She is an artist in residence at The Los Angeles Makery.
