SUMMARY:General Meeting: Sherif Hakeem Fine Art Hyperrealism of Endangered Animals
DESCRIPTION:Sherif Hakeem is a fine art wildlife artist who produces highly detailed Hyperrealistic portraits of endangered species and abused animals using white charcoal pencil on black archival paper.  Sherif states his painstaking capture of details is used to create a highly detailed piece in the style of Hyperrealism. He feels this art form provides a  more vivid depiction of his subjects than what one can see with the naked eye. He feels this style opens a much deeper and thought-provoking conversation regarding each endangered species and helps give these beautiful and endangered animals a voice for protection. \nHis goal is to raise as much support as possible by selling his artwork and donating a minimum of 20% to sanctuaries and conservation organizations that advocate for endangered wildlife and abused animals. \nHis art was recently accepted into the prestigious Society of Animal Artists and in an art exhibition at Art 4 Apes gallery\, a Florida Not For Profit Corporation. His work has also appeared on well-known websites including ArtsyShark.com. \n Supported by Rancho Cucamonga & Community and Art Foundation Grant and Chaffey Community Museum of Art.

SUMMARY:General Meeting: Sue Linn Lecture on Modern art to 1950
DESCRIPTION:                                 Join us again for Sue’s second part on Art History.  Sue is returning by popular demand for her  Lecture on Modern Art to 1950’s \n  \nMy name is Susan Linn\, and I am a full-time Elementary and High School teacher in Orange County. I work in a private school\, which allows me the flexibility to teach Elementary\, Jr. High\, and High School art and history for the past 26 years. I originally started and still work with a program known as Meet the Master’s. This program is comprised four age-appropriate artistic levels which introduces K-6th graders to seven famous\, and different artists/artistic styles each year. I have had the privilege to instill a love for the arts in thousands of my students throughout the years and continue to do so. We have students whose works are entered into the Orange County Arts for All\, which features over 1000 works yearly at South Coast Plaza/Crystal Court and some are then chosen to be judged and shown at the Festival of the Arts in Laguna Beach each year. \nI currently spend most of my day in high school and work for the College Board teaching Advanced Placement (College Level) AP Art History\, AP European History\, and AP World History for over 24 years. I am hired by the Educational Testing Board (ETS) as a Reader\, to grade AP Exams each year. I serve as the Department Head for thirteen Jr. High and High School teachers. I oversee 30 different Electives from the International Space Station\, Robotics\, PE\, Music (Regular Band\, Drumline\, Pep Band\, & Guitar)\, Computer Graphics & AP Computer Science Principles\, Media\, Creative Writing\, Art- both Drawing and Painting along with AP Studio Art in 2D\, Criminology\, Digital Photography and Yearbook. These courses all meet the A-G college requirements for UC’s and Cal-State schools. \nI have also led a dozen student and adult custom tours (2 to 3 weeks in summer) to the East Coast and Europe\, where I specialize in taking my groups to the various tourist destinations\, and those off the beaten track. Understanding the purpose of architecture\, painting and sculpture in the world makes history come alive. Both my husband Tim and I have also traveled extensively and continue to do so. \nI am fortunate to love what I do and do what I love. I stumbled into the Arts quite unexpectedly\, after starting out in the Sciences. I believe that art has a universal language\, purpose and can unite people from all walks of life. My goal is to be an instrument/vehicle to help my students develop an understanding\, along with a global appreciation for the various artists and artistic styles in the world in which we live. \nMy thanks to the Associated Artists of the Inland Empire for allowing me to be your guest today\, and I look forward to our time together.Supported by Rancho Cucamonga & Community and Art Foundation Grant and Chaffey Community Museum of Art. \nRegards\, \nSusan Linn \nsue.linn@calvaryschools.org

SUMMARY:General Meeting: Pechez Sepehri
DESCRIPTION:Pechez will share with us the skill of using the Fan Brush to create fantasy art. Come join us to be inspired to create art.  You can view more of Pechez’s art techniques on youtube at  ART by PECHEZ. \nPechez was born in San Diego Ca. but raised in the Pacific Northwest with family in Oregon and Idaho where the wildlife and western Country lifestyle had an impact on her artwork. As a kid\, she drew on everything from wood to hollowed-out eggshells. In High School\, thanks to her art professor Mrs. Parks she got an Art scholarship to B.S.U. in Idaho. As an adult\, she had the opportunity to travel throughout the U.S. and overseas and paint for private collectors. Painting mostly in oil paint Pechez   also has works in watercolor and Acrylic. Inspired as a kid by the works of Penny Anne Cross\, Pechez painted many American Indian women and then her work evolved more towards the American cowgirl. These are represented in her P.M.S. series that play on her married initials and the female condition. In these works\, you will find the initials in some parts of the painting.

SUMMARY:General Meeting : Chick Curtis Demonstration
DESCRIPTION:You will not want to miss talented Riverside oil painter Chick Curtis’s demonstration. He writes that his art contains work from studio drawings\, paintings\, photographs\, sketches\, memory\, and pure imagination. His art tells stories without words: sometimes strangely\, occasionally with humor\, often with beauty\, and always with joy and wonderment. He paints daily and states” I paint enthusiastically\, Curiously incessantly\, appreciatively\, and happily”.

SUMMARY:Event on Thursday-Frank Carrillo- Paper Mache Demo
DESCRIPTION:I began sculpting when I saw a video of Dan Reeder making a dragon. I noticed on the video the artist made the dragons the same way I made my children’s piñatas. After making my first dragon\, my family and I were shocked at how good it was. It began as a hobby on my days off from managing a pharmacy some 5 years ago. Now I want to dedicate my entire time to sculpting and teaching how to make these mythical creations. I still make piñatas but only to teach parents and children how to make them both on our YouTube channel and in person.\nMy work has been featured at museums\, libraries\, schools\, and even the renaissance Fairies in Wisconsin and Irwindale. I have also used my dragons to read children’s dragon books to help the school bring more involvement from parents in their children’s reading. The Ontario Museum of History and Art has showcased my artwork for three different years; this is very special to me because my family gets to see my sculptures displayed professionally at an amazing Museum. However\, my most memorable accomplishment is donating two large-scale dragons to help raise money for pancreatic cancer research. I drove the dragons from Pomona to Seattle non-stop and when arriving there were news channels waiting for me. I forgot I was tired and enjoyed every minute of that warm welcome. The project was named “Diagon Alley Project” and it drew thousands of people daily to see the Harry Potter replica at a father’s driveway with dragons from Los Angeles. The project helped raise $45\,000 and the memories are priceless.\nMy work is mixed media with the primary forms being Paper Mache and air dry clay. I also use my daughter’s old bedsheets to create a leather-like texture. My goal in every piece is to leave the viewer wondering what medium was used as I pursue the most realistic look with the acrylic finish.\nPlease support me by subscribing to my YouTube channel @dynamicmache\nThank you\, Frank Carrillo

SUMMARY:Linda Garcia-Dahle: Oil Painting Demo
DESCRIPTION:Artist Biography – Linda Garcia-Dahle \nLinda Garcia-Dahle\, a California native\, is following in the footsteps of her Father and Grandfather. Her Grandfather was an active trompe l’oeil muralist in Los Angeles in the early part of the 20th century. Her Father\, when not working to provide for a large family\, became an amateur photographer. Both their passion and love for art was fully instilled into her from a young age. One of her favorite memories is sitting with both them in her family’s patio and discussing the best way to work on a painting’s perspective. \nLinda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the California State University at Long Beach\, where she found herself influenced by the artists of the Impressionists\, Realists and Hudson River School of Arts\, who placed much emphasis on light and the emotions it can invoke in a painting. It’s this love of capturing light and its interplay with shadow and color on a canvas to create a mood that drives her work in oil painting. To achieve this elusive light/shadow effect\, Linda has continually worked on perfecting an oil painting glazing technique to great success. \nHer artwork has won numerous awards over the years. In 2019 she had the honor of being invited by the Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation in connection with the Smithsonian Institute to participate in their “Preserving Creative Spaces exhibit”\, which featured notable artists from across America in their homes or studios\, along with photos of regional artists. \nShe has had a painting acquired for permanent display at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History for their Bird Gallery and two paintings acquired by the Sasse Museum of Art for inclusion in its collection of work by Southern California artists. \nLinda currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Pomona Valley Art Association.\nLinda is a member of the Pomona Valley Art Association\, the IE Plein Air Painters Society and the International Guild of Realism. \nYou can view more of Linda’s work at www.lindagarciadahle.com and at www.pvaaonline.myshopify.com/collections/linda-garcia-dahle

SUMMARY:Susan Linn - Art History: Impressionism to Modernism
DESCRIPTION:Come join us at the Ontario Museum of History and Art (OMHA) for a morning of art history from Impressionism to Modernism\, with an emphasis on painting\, sculpture and architecture. \nSusan Linn is a fulltime Elementary and High School teacher in Orange County. She works in a private school\, which allows her the flexibility to teach Elementary\, Jr. High and High School Art and history for the past 25 years. She works with a program known as Meet the Master’s. \nShe currently spends most of her day in the high school\, and work for the College Board teaching Advanced Placement (College Level) AP Art History\, AP European History and AP World History for the last 23 years. I have also led a dozen student and adult custom tours (2 to 3 weeks in summer) to the East Coast and Europe\, where I specialize in taking my groups to the various tourist destinations\, and those off the beaten track. Understanding the purpose of architecture\, painting and sculpture in the world makes history come alive. Both my husband Tim and I have also traveled extensively and continue to do so. \nShe stumbled into the Arts quite unexpectedly\, after starting out in the Sciences. I believe that art has a universal language\, purpose and can unite people from all walks of life. My goal is to be an instrument/vehicle to help my students develop an understanding\, along with a global appreciation for the various artists and artistic styles in the world in which we live. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Roxanne Tamberem - monotype
DESCRIPTION:Roxanne Tamberen was born in Upland\, California. She was educated at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena\, where she majored in painting. Roxanne’s medium is the monotype\, which is a very unique way of making a one of a kind painting. The scene is painted on plexiglass in oil or ink\, and the artist rubs out the white areas so that those areas show through to the paper\, once the ink or paint has been transferred from the plexiglass onto the paper with a roller press. \nEach time the painting is “pulled”\, it is a thrill and surprise to see the effect of this rubbing out process\, and Roxanne feel so fortunate to have a printing press and the knowledge of this unique medium to share with her audience her love of color and shape\, as well as this unique vision she loves to share of outdoor travel.
